So Cargo Modern is taking some interesting new turns and thus the delay in getting the container completed. Wes, the architect, has moved to Utah to take a job with an architecture firm there and Greg, the landscape designer, has taken a job in California. So what does this mean for the container business? It is alive and well and we hope to continue designing and building projects as interest and funds allow. In addition, we also are hopeful that these new markets will equal new opportunities.<br /><br />As far as the current project goes we are down to painting the exterior. We primed and painted the base color and are ready to move on to the accent colors. It is basically windows, doors and the patio area. We are shooting for an Open House on Friday or Saturday the 20th or 21st of November. Anyone who is interested in attending and checking out the project can contact me via email at gsgorby@hotmail.com or ggorby@3branchstudio.com. Thanks for your interest and we should have a couple more posts before the project is completed.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27Lg7Nz2I/AAAAAAAAAGY/3buwPQv5ySg/s1600-h/IMG_1534.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27Lg7Nz2I/AAAAAAAAAGY/3buwPQv5ySg/s320/IMG_1534.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177334778351458" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27Hbt44vI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/a1yHaZe9TW8/s1600-h/IMG_1533.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27Hbt44vI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/a1yHaZe9TW8/s320/IMG_1533.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177264660800242" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27PNoYseI/AAAAAAAAAGg/7nHVhS20KjE/s1600-h/IMG_1536.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27PNoYseI/AAAAAAAAAGg/7nHVhS20KjE/s320/IMG_1536.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177398318576098" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27TiSE9bI/AAAAAAAAAGo/DR8jeQ3xAX4/s1600-h/IMG_1540.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27TiSE9bI/AAAAAAAAAGo/DR8jeQ3xAX4/s320/IMG_1540.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177472581629362" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27m3UWiHI/AAAAAAAAAHA/vCkquVnCJzs/s1600-h/IMG_1561.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27m3UWiHI/AAAAAAAAAHA/vCkquVnCJzs/s320/IMG_1561.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177804645828722" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27gwbL2YI/AAAAAAAAAG4/zGzxZcnzB_U/s1600-h/IMG_1559.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27gwbL2YI/AAAAAAAAAG4/zGzxZcnzB_U/s320/IMG_1559.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177699716225410" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27YnpDyaI/AAAAAAAAAGw/1Y2CuPar4hU/s1600-h/IMG_1547.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Su27YnpDyaI/AAAAAAAAAGw/1Y2CuPar4hU/s320/IMG_1547.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399177559919544738" border="0" /></a>Greghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05363511482299658097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-29866064246666765462009-09-19T10:39:00.000-07:002009-09-19T11:13:11.735-07:00We're Floored<span style="font-family: arial;">Though it was a long time coming the floor and paneling are officially in and the floor is ready to be sealed. Though the work has been going on, we did not get the pics posted until now. The outside of the container is almost completely primed and will be ready to paint very soon. We are hoping to have our open house in the coming weeks. </span><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-family: arial;">On another note, we were recently contacted by an entrepreneur in India who would like us to do some design work and potentially helping in the construction of container projects in India. We will keep you posted.</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUZntP2BbI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/cnSVOzOBymQ/s1600-h/IMG_1371.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 293px; height: 220px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUZntP2BbI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/cnSVOzOBymQ/s320/IMG_1371.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383237099542939058" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUbUNKF0_I/AAAAAAAAAFw/OArhj4nwpTE/s1600-h/IMG_1382.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 292px; height: 220px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUbUNKF0_I/AAAAAAAAAFw/OArhj4nwpTE/s320/IMG_1382.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383238963534615538" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUaHQmJftI/AAAAAAAAAFg/TjpLbvfkVEU/s1600-h/IMG_1391.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 294px; height: 220px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUaHQmJftI/AAAAAAAAAFg/TjpLbvfkVEU/s320/IMG_1391.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383237641607675602" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUabvibIOI/AAAAAAAAAFo/eGcfrlLVElI/s1600-h/IMG_1393.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 292px; height: 220px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUabvibIOI/AAAAAAAAAFo/eGcfrlLVElI/s320/IMG_1393.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383237993510936802" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUZzSaVEGI/AAAAAAAAAFY/1HY18GPNQHc/s1600-h/IMG_1388.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 292px; height: 220px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUZzSaVEGI/AAAAAAAAAFY/1HY18GPNQHc/s320/IMG_1388.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383237298497589346" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUbpdsVWgI/AAAAAAAAAF4/BsFssNnci9I/s1600-h/IMG_1395.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 293px; height: 220px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUbpdsVWgI/AAAAAAAAAF4/BsFssNnci9I/s320/IMG_1395.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383239328750459394" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUb34a7J6I/AAAAAAAAAGA/Cs4XpVOkWVA/s1600-h/IMG_1394.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUb34a7J6I/AAAAAAAAAGA/Cs4XpVOkWVA/s320/IMG_1394.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383239576443365282" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUcDRCTOSI/AAAAAAAAAGI/B6_TRb9AgNQ/s1600-h/IMG_1396.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SrUcDRCTOSI/AAAAAAAAAGI/B6_TRb9AgNQ/s320/IMG_1396.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383239772029532450" border="0" /></a>Greghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05363511482299658097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-29320283097584330552009-08-26T12:15:00.000-07:002009-08-26T12:46:10.804-07:00Paint-astic!<span style="font-family:arial;color:#000000;">So if we were to make a list of our favorite things to do on a project such as this, painting wouldn't likely make the top 10. The paint looks great when it is done, but the process getting to that point is a bit taxing. Anyone who has done a fair amount of painting knows exactly what I mean. Anyway, the colors are looking pretty swanky and the feel of the space is changing dramatically. We also connected the puck lights for the niche shelves and need only to mount them. We've placed them on a dimmer switch to enable some flexibility for lighting the studio. They are a nice compliment to the custom fluorescent fixtures in the ceiling. Another coat of paint and some trim work, and then we are ready to install the flooring.</span><br /><br /><br /><img style="WIDTH: 297px; HEIGHT: 225px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374355769951440146" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMGSSGzRI/AAAAAAAAAEg/rLYaQK6ITtM/s320/Cargo+012.jpg" /> <img style="WIDTH: 296px; HEIGHT: 225px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374355845486423378" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMKrrDLVI/AAAAAAAAAEo/Vk7SecLo5RE/s320/Cargo+015.jpg" /><br /><br /><img style="WIDTH: 297px; HEIGHT: 234px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374356112112269714" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMaM7muZI/AAAAAAAAAFA/FggT892MskY/s320/Cargo+025.jpg" /> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMUbb3TgI/AAAAAAAAAE4/LzoNLDNPRR4/s1600-h/Cargo+023.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 296px; HEIGHT: 234px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374356012926455298" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMUbb3TgI/AAAAAAAAAE4/LzoNLDNPRR4/s320/Cargo+023.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMsZh6mnI/AAAAAAAAAFI/M1iYAejQb50/s1600-h/Cargo+019.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 298px; HEIGHT: 233px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374356424731826802" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SpWMsZh6mnI/AAAAAAAAAFI/M1iYAejQb50/s320/Cargo+019.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>Greghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05363511482299658097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-67119162129284712072009-08-15T23:12:00.000-07:002009-08-15T23:42:17.193-07:00Keep it Rollin'<span style="font-family:arial;">A couple of posts ago we spoke about the rolling door and what a cool feature it is. The drywall is in, the wood sheathing is in, now we just need to do some caulking, priming, painting, sealing, and numerous other items and we are...OK, so there is still a bit to accomplish, but we'll get there. The plywood is a nice touch and should help to soften the space. Once we get a color palette picked out we are in good shape. The next post will include some shots of our sliding perforated door.</span> <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Snu17cOZvVI/AAAAAAAAADA/eSH-jvHbOLY/s1600-h/IMG_1107.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Snu17cOZvVI/AAAAAAAAADA/eSH-jvHbOLY/s320/IMG_1107.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367083413735587154" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Snu1UjfQyqI/AAAAAAAAAC4/xDuk1ulocdY/s1600-h/IMG_1106.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Snu1UjfQyqI/AAAAAAAAAC4/xDuk1ulocdY/s320/IMG_1106.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367082745670453922" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Snu2YUarOrI/AAAAAAAAADI/2dbid16a2Gg/s1600-h/IMG_1110.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/Snu2YUarOrI/AAAAAAAAADI/2dbid16a2Gg/s320/IMG_1110.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367083909855787698" border="0" /></a>Greghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05363511482299658097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-25553561674840961232009-08-03T14:25:00.000-07:002009-08-03T15:00:17.398-07:00Sheetrock Rocks!<span style="font-family:arial;">Last week was a rewarding yet taxing week on the container project. We finally started some of the interior sheathing, namely drywall and finished up our last electrical inspection. We spent many a late night at the container but the results are great. The project is moving at light speed these days. We have many other great pictures and further progress to post, so check back soon. </span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndYFY_1I7I/AAAAAAAAABg/K8Pn-yWjqbc/s1600-h/Cargo+009.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 318px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 218px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365854330668000178" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndYFY_1I7I/AAAAAAAAABg/K8Pn-yWjqbc/s320/Cargo+009.jpg" /></a><br /><br /></span><span style="font-family:arial;"></span><div><div> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">Wes, beat down after a night </span><span style="font-family:arial;">of sheetrock-ing out.</span></div><div><span style="font-family:Arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:Arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:Arial;"></span> </div><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndW94jOw8I/AAAAAAAAABY/ZbzV1UA6uTI/s1600-h/Cargo+005.jpg"></a> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndW94jOw8I/AAAAAAAAABY/ZbzV1UA6uTI/s1600-h/Cargo+005.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 209px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365853102187398082" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndW94jOw8I/AAAAAAAAABY/ZbzV1UA6uTI/s320/Cargo+005.jpg" /></a></span></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndW94jOw8I/AAAAAAAAABY/ZbzV1UA6uTI/s1600-h/Cargo+005.jpg"></a></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">Greg fastening the drywall at approx. </span></div><div><span style="font-family:arial;">1:30 am. </span><span style="font-family:arial;">The neighbors love us!</span></div><div><span style="font-family:Arial;"></span> </div><div> </div></div><div><div> </div><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndbObATSPI/AAAAAAAAAB4/OG_mV8pwEF4/s1600-h/Cargo+002.jpg"></a> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndbObATSPI/AAAAAAAAAB4/OG_mV8pwEF4/s1600-h/Cargo+002.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365857784360552690" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qxHPMci0SS8/SndbObATSPI/AAAAAAAAAB4/OG_mV8pwEF4/s320/Cargo+002.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">The container at night can be a bit sketchy. Gale Insulation of Tucson installed <a href="http://www.demilecusa.com/">Demilec foam insulation</a> to the walls and roof cavity of the container. The temps were up and the humidity was high. It was a scorcher.<br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhG7aSJqI/AAAAAAAAAmI/3-eUj84-1m8/s1600-h/cargo2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355590416040339106" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhG7aSJqI/AAAAAAAAAmI/3-eUj84-1m8/s320/cargo2.jpg" border="0" /></a> We made progress with the landscape by the use of a small backhoe. Tom and his father came out and made short work of the electrical trench that needed to be dug from the house to the container. Then, with Greg pointing out the locations, boulders were placed on the site and arranged per the landscape design. There will be a nice gathering area where people can come together around a backyard fire pit and sit on the large boulders acting as seating. Tree holes were dug as well.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhGp0CM_I/AAAAAAAAAmA/M98fbjx-xv0/s1600-h/cargo3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355590411316507634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhGp0CM_I/AAAAAAAAAmA/M98fbjx-xv0/s320/cargo3.jpg" border="0" /></a> We framed out and hung the bike storage window. A little window cleaner and it will be pretty sharp.<br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhGLR6OfI/AAAAAAAAAl4/rnVZZrCuAjM/s1600-h/cargo4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355590403120314866" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhGLR6OfI/AAAAAAAAAl4/rnVZZrCuAjM/s320/cargo4.jpg" border="0" /></a> We added some sheathing to the interior wall to separate the bike storage room from the studio. The finish in the bike room will be the exposed OSB. Tom got in on the action with the nail gun.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhF7_Si7I/AAAAAAAAAlw/mHSX7BmFLqU/s1600-h/cargo5.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355590399015685042" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 120px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SlLhF7_Si7I/AAAAAAAAAlw/mHSX7BmFLqU/s320/cargo5.jpg" border="0" /></a> One last note this week, Greg and his wife welcomed a new addition to their family. A new baby boy. Congratulations to you both. <div></div></div></div></div></div>Weshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00948215346364559207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-48978288594415477252009-06-28T22:44:00.000-07:002009-06-28T22:53:05.622-07:00It's Electric!!This week and last week the rough electrical has been worked on. Greg ran wire and placed the boxes last week and this week we built the light boxes for our ceiling lights and finished the rough electrical work. Tom, the owner, ordered an awesome exterior light that we drilled holes for the mounting location. The light reflects the industrial feel of the container and will look great out by the front porch. We are getting the main circuit box to mount on the container and the trench will be dug this week to connect the container electrical to the main house panel. After inspections and the hook up we will have power!! Then it’s on to insulation.<br /><br />The project is moving forward nicely. We have been designing the interior look with materials and colors that we think will reflect the overall design intent.<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SkhVKnSYe7I/AAAAAAAAAlQ/3p3ZhejwRO4/s1600-h/IMG_0956.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352621797962972082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SkhVKnSYe7I/AAAAAAAAAlQ/3p3ZhejwRO4/s320/IMG_0956.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center"></a>Here is Greg pulling wire to a receptical box.<br /></p><div align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SkhVKiCLT8I/AAAAAAAAAlI/F-0sY6AO-P8/s1600-h/IMG_0961.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352621796552822722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SkhVKiCLT8I/AAAAAAAAAlI/F-0sY6AO-P8/s320/IMG_0961.jpg" border="0" /></a> This is one of three light boxes we framed out.<br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SkhVKOIiCXI/AAAAAAAAAlA/BGVeC3jtS4g/s1600-h/IMG_0951.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352621791210768754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SkhVKOIiCXI/AAAAAAAAAlA/BGVeC3jtS4g/s320/IMG_0951.jpg" border="0" /></a> Wes drilling holes for our exterior light at the door and porch. (As shown in the Photo of Greg attacking the wall with the framing gun.)<br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SjPiaLYfhKI/AAAAAAAAAj4/nx5VoVvpo60/s1600-h/Framing2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346866121978905762" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SjPiaLYfhKI/AAAAAAAAAj4/nx5VoVvpo60/s320/Framing2.jpg" border="0" /></a> The back wall was then framed to separate the studio from the bike storage areas. In that wall we framed in 3 shelf nooks that mirror the 3 windows on the west wall.<br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SjPiZz1fqAI/AAAAAAAAAjw/2OVCEv5SdyA/s1600-h/Framing3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346866115658098690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SjPiZz1fqAI/AAAAAAAAAjw/2OVCEv5SdyA/s320/Framing3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SjPiZi8J0tI/AAAAAAAAAjo/1hcbmsDAST0/s1600-h/Framing4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346866111122625234" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SjPiZi8J0tI/AAAAAAAAAjo/1hcbmsDAST0/s320/Framing4.jpg" border="0" /></a> The framing went relatively quick. The patio section is cut, ground, and the brackets have been installed to be connected to the main container. We met Jason Butler out at the project and began cutting the panels out of the patio section and the doors and windows. Using the plasma cutter, it went pretty quick, and the precision was spot on.<br />The project is really starting to take shape. Along with our windows we bought at the used building materials yard, we found a french door with full glass panels at Lowe's for a a great price. It was a returned door and if not sold would have been disgarded, so we are re-using. <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjDGax0QkI/AAAAAAAAAfc/wONwfrN9Hd0/s1600-h/Cutting6.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339231873282622018" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjDGax0QkI/AAAAAAAAAfc/wONwfrN9Hd0/s320/Cutting6.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjClUt5vKI/AAAAAAAAAfU/Xq7H3UEMHGU/s1600-h/Cutting5.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339231304719908002" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjClUt5vKI/AAAAAAAAAfU/Xq7H3UEMHGU/s320/Cutting5.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjClbWe2HI/AAAAAAAAAfM/_Y8YuGFOzas/s1600-h/Cutting4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339231306500724850" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjClbWe2HI/AAAAAAAAAfM/_Y8YuGFOzas/s320/Cutting4.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjClLCFoJI/AAAAAAAAAfE/iZR1dGIBDjs/s1600-h/Cutting3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339231302120218770" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjClLCFoJI/AAAAAAAAAfE/iZR1dGIBDjs/s320/Cutting3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjCk2yLxKI/AAAAAAAAAe8/Do-Oj-un768/s1600-h/Cutting2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339231296684803234" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjCk2yLxKI/AAAAAAAAAe8/Do-Oj-un768/s320/Cutting2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjCkjqOB9I/AAAAAAAAAe0/-6o7yMXkwCg/s1600-h/Cutting1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339231291551123410" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/ShjCkjqOB9I/AAAAAAAAAe0/-6o7yMXkwCg/s320/Cutting1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div>Weshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00948215346364559207noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-70190338378912700212009-05-12T13:42:00.000-07:002009-05-12T13:52:33.564-07:00Windows and Panels<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgnhWy26CFI/AAAAAAAAAes/DklWnYiGZYI/s1600-h/websash.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5335043015322503250" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 270px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 216px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgnhWy26CFI/AAAAAAAAAes/DklWnYiGZYI/s320/websash.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Today we were like kids in a candy store walking around a <strong>used building materials</strong> yard here in Tucson. Again, using the recycling and re-use aspect of the this project it was great to let our imaginations run as we walk through everything from windows to doors to steel panels. These are great areas to look first when building any project. Look for things you need that may be re-used and are in great shape before you go buy new. This way, the landfills aren't filling up with perfectly good materials. It cost a lot less too, if you are willing to look. </div><br /><div>If only we could do something with that side panel off an airplane fuselage.....humm, maybe next project. </div>Weshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00948215346364559207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-40526655030020643662009-05-11T11:40:00.000-07:002009-05-11T13:13:41.667-07:00Delivery Day<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFiFHcbqI/AAAAAAAAAek/s6AW8LVaIvE/s1600-h/drop5.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334660579155799714" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFiFHcbqI/AAAAAAAAAek/s6AW8LVaIvE/s320/drop5.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFh_gX25I/AAAAAAAAAec/4aexz96PL7A/s1600-h/drop4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334660577649744786" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFh_gX25I/AAAAAAAAAec/4aexz96PL7A/s320/drop4.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFh_xH8PI/AAAAAAAAAeU/F-o2_Q7TFI0/s1600-h/drop3.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334660577720004850" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFh_xH8PI/AAAAAAAAAeU/F-o2_Q7TFI0/s320/drop3.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFhrLidRI/AAAAAAAAAeM/vZlpoUpkEn4/s1600-h/drop2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334660572193649938" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFhrLidRI/AAAAAAAAAeM/vZlpoUpkEn4/s320/drop2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFhdZ0vGI/AAAAAAAAAeE/p9uzLvyn2PE/s1600-h/drop1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334660568495471714" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiFhdZ0vGI/AAAAAAAAAeE/p9uzLvyn2PE/s320/drop1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>Friday, we had the container delivered to the site. The 40' container was cut in two pieces at the container yard and delivered. the smaller 12' section will serve as the patio/porch to the studio and be connected to the larger 28' main section. </div><div>Now, time for doors and windows to be cut and placed.<br /><br /><br /><br /></div><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiE8MbqaJI/AAAAAAAAAd0/jotQA5n20wU/s1600-h/drop4.jpg"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SgiE77AcPXI/AAAAAAAAAds/b4BRtIO7yPM/s1600-h/drop3.jpg"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Weshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00948215346364559207noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-38956115741551404812009-05-04T22:35:00.000-07:002009-05-04T22:48:27.668-07:00Permits and Container!!<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/Sf_QUnj9P7I/AAAAAAAAAdM/wRaH2xHg9-w/s1600-h/Thivener.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332209536465715122" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 182px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/Sf_QUnj9P7I/AAAAAAAAAdM/wRaH2xHg9-w/s320/Thivener.jpg" border="0" /></a> We have permits and the container has been ordered.<br /><div>The project is moving forward and is starting to get exciting. The planning stage has gotten through and now it looks like we are starting to build. Greg had some large boulders delivered to the site last week and now the container is <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">coming</span>. Tom and I met at the container yard and picked out a very nice <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">decommissioned</span> 40 foot "high cube" sea container. (a "Wan Hi" I believe)</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332211798702072306" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 174px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/Sf_SYTDIofI/AAAAAAAAAdU/qsn5raxzqzQ/s320/wanhi.jpg" border="0" />Now, we are faced with the task of cutting 12 feet off one end to fit our design. We have Jason Butler lined up for that and will document the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">delivery</span> and cut. Stay tuned for some exciting stuff.<br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Weshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00948215346364559207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-33259437647704336722009-01-20T15:11:00.000-08:002009-01-20T15:32:49.352-08:00New Design Idea<div><br /><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SXZeneGcn7I/AAAAAAAAAX0/RAP8EL1QCp0/s1600-h/Tom-cargoweb2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293522444208611250" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 219px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SXZeneGcn7I/AAAAAAAAAX0/RAP8EL1QCp0/s400/Tom-cargoweb2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SXZenVgb-8I/AAAAAAAAAXs/1y_xn5tlugM/s1600-h/Tom-cargoweb1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293522441901702082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 219px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SXZenVgb-8I/AAAAAAAAAXs/1y_xn5tlugM/s400/Tom-cargoweb1.jpg" border="0" /></a> Here are some images of a new design idea for our current client. We are looking at designing and building a backyard Yoga studio with a portion of it used for a bicycle storage and repair area. Duel uses and duel users in the same building. A 20 foot container will be the framework for this project. </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293522686357097906" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 219px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SXZe1kLJTbI/AAAAAAAAAX8/UwqxsvxTNTA/s400/Tom-cargoweb3.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>We will place one dividing wall between the two spaces and will provide windows in different locations to bring in natural sunlight. A 6 foot double door will be placed to enter into the Yoga studio. This will be a French style door. Using the steel side panel we cut out of the container for the door, we will place a frame around it and hang this panel on some barn door style hardware so the owners can close the doors off when not occupied for security. The Roof may or may not be modified in the final resolution of the project. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293522867288517538" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 219px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SXZfAGMjq6I/AAAAAAAAAYE/4-Ll284Ha0M/s400/Tom-cargoweb4.jpg" border="0" />A deck will be placed outside the door to the studio. The deck will be proposed as using the Trex decking material. This system is made from recycled material and environmentally friendly. Not to mention it will be splinter free and last longer in the Tucson sun. The doors to the Bike component will be the original cargo doors. The container will be sanded down and painted for a complete product.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div>Weshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00948215346364559207noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6461652529630002713.post-81708828618789970722009-01-06T13:33:00.001-08:002009-01-06T14:04:19.513-08:00CARGOmodern<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SWPUbkSrnVI/AAAAAAAAAVc/msujxzEvwD8/s1600-h/bystudio-sm.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288303957526682962" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SWPUbkSrnVI/AAAAAAAAAVc/msujxzEvwD8/s200/bystudio-sm.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4hJ3AIVWBZ0/SWPUL8kR0KI/AAAAAAAAAVU/golhp3vOZpM/s1600-h/bystudio.jpg"></a>Welcome to the CARGOmoden website and blog.
